Russians’ individual inflation again below official in December

MOSCOW, Jan 23 (PRIME) -- Russians’ individual inflation was registered below official inflation in December and in the whole of 2017 due to various New Year saving options, as seen by PRIME in research company Romir’s report on Tuesday.

“The deflator rose in November and slumped to minus 1.1% on the month in December, which is about three times lower than the Federal State Statistics Service’s official inflation of 0.4%. In the entire 2017, the deflator grew 1.6%, which is also below the official level of 2.5%,” the report read.

The deflator stayed below the official statistics level from August through October, but topped it in November. The key factor pushing it below zero in December was a variety of promo offers, which made prices for staple products 3.3% lower on the month.

The Federal State Statistics Service said that prices in Russia increased 0.6% on the month in December.
